Umbra spoon with stylus

Sheridan College alumnus Jordan Murphy has invented a new tool to make it easier to navigate through the recipes on your tablet while cooking and striving to keep things clean.

Currently lead designer for kitchen and furniture at Umbra, Murphy has created the iSpoon – part wooden spoon and part kitchen stylus.  A graduate of Sheridan’s Furniture program and the Fine Art program at the Ontario College of Art and Design, Murphy strives to reconsider the way we design and manufacture objects so that we can create more meaningful relationships with the things we own.

Murphy has designed many other items at Umbra (below) that re-invent familiar kitchen tools – two of which include a sleek and stylish, combination colander and bowl, and an expandable trivet that features a beautiful geometric pattern whether folded down or opened to full size.

  • We welcome original posts and comments, which is to say content you have created yourself and not ‘borrowed’ elsewhere.
  • If you see something you like, spread it! Pay it forward by sharing any great ideas you find here.
  • No spam, PR freebees or giveaways, please and thank you.
  • Sheridan reserves the right to delete inappropriate or offensive remarks.
