Sheridan College Musical Theatre Vanessa Sears

It’s Sheridan’s Own Vanessa Sears.

Vanessa Sears, who studies in the Bachelor of Music Theatre program at Sheridan, has just been selected as the Canadian winner of a singing competition for McDonald’s employees called “Voice of McDonald’s” or VOM.

Run worldwide, VOM is in its fifth year and has attracted over 36,000 entrants since its inception.  The top 16 VOM contestants (four each from Asia-Pacific/Middle East/Africa, Europe, Latin America and North America) will become Global Semi-Finalists, and will be eligible to compete in the final rounds at McDonald’s 2014 Worldwide Convention in Orlando.  While there, they get to train with some of the world’s best professional music coaches, perform for an audience of 15,000, and have opportunities to make connections with top music industry executives, producers and performers. Last year’s winner, Australia’s Chrislyn Hamilton, performed with David Foster, Seal and Kelly Clarkson, recorded a voice part in a DreamWorks animated movie, and appeared on ABC-TV’s top-rated daytime show The View.

Vanessa works at a local McDonald’s near one of Sheridan’s campuses, where some of Sheridan’s employees have gotten to know her and continue to cheer her on.  Click on this link to hear Vanessa’s beautiful voice:

Best of luck Vanessa – we hope you go all the way!
